Nine people have died and about 100 injured after two trains collided near Bad Aibling in the southern German state of Bavaria, say police


Berlin: Nine people have died and about 100 injured after two trains collided near Bad Aibling in the southern German state of Bavaria, say police.

According to reports, one train derailed in the crash Tuesday morning, and several wagons overturned. It said eight rescue helicopters were standing on a lawn near the entrance to the town of Bad Aibling and further rescue staff were on the way to the scene of the crash.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

Among the dead was the driver of one of the trains, according to Bavarian Bayerischer Rundfunk broadcaster.

The driver of the other train is missing, though police pointed out that he could hardly survive a collision of this kind.
