Washington: It was a pleasant surprise for prominent Indian-American Ashok K Mago when he got back his expensive laptop at the Bangalore airport several days after he had incidentally lost it at the security screening.
"Once I realised that I have left my Mac Book Air at the Bangalore airport, it was a foregone conclusion that I will never be able to get it back. Surprisingly, I got it," Mago told PTI on his return from India.
"People at the Bangalore airport were not only polite, but also ensured that the lost laptop (worth USD 4,000) indeed went to its real owner," said Mago, who had received Padma Shri award from the President in recognition of his contribution towards trade and industry last year. He is founder chairman of the Greater Dallas Indo American Chamber, now known as US-INDIA Chamber of Commerce.
Giving the sequence of events, Mago said it was on December 16 that he left his laptop after passing through the security checkpoint at the Bangalore airport.
"I was directed to the lost and found department of the airport," he said, adding that a few days later, he received his lost laptop.
Mago returned this week from India where he attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Ahmedabad. He was among few Indian-Americans invited for the State Dinner hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee in honour of US President Barack Obama in New Delhi.
