A man in Pakistan was strangled to death after he refused to marry his lover

Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Muhammad Akmal said that Kashif Imran, 30, had been having an affair with Abida Sarwar and she had strangled him with her teenaged niece's help because he was refusing to marry her, reports the Express Tribune.

He said that Sarwar had called Rescue 15 in the early hours of weekend and reported that there was a body in her house. The police found bruises on the dead man's neck and concluded that he had been asphyxiated with a rope. He said that Sarwar and her niece Ayesha, 16, were taken into custody for questioning.

Under interrogation, Sarwar told the police she had met Imran when she moved to Usama Colony three years ago after she got married. They had started an affair, while her husband lived and worked in Dubai. She had later moved to Asim Block, where Imran used to visit her.

Imran had told Sarwar that he would marry her, the SHO said, but a few days ago he had changed his tune and warned her that he was not ready for marriage and he was looking for work abroad. During weekdays, Sarwar invited him to her home and drugged his tea. While he was unconscious, she strangled him with her niece's help, the SHO said.

He said that a first information report case had been registered against Sarwar and Ayesha under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
