Los Angeles: Panama become the latest country to withdraw from the Miss Universe pageant, which is partly owned by Donald Trump, in reaction to his controversial remarks on Mexican immigrants.
Panama follows the footsteps of Costa Rica and Mexico by announcing that it will not participate in the annual contest, reported Aceshowbiz.
The Miss Panama Organization and the Telemetro television channel announced that they would neither participate in the annual contest nor would broadcast the pageant this year.
According to them the move is "a message of solidarity" to Mexicans.
Earlier, contest organisers and broadcasters in Costa Rica and Mexico also announced their decisions to pull out of the international event.
The drama surrounding Miss USA and Miss Universe began after the comments Trump made while announcing his GOP presidential nomination, where he described Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists.
