It's over: Harry and Chelsy started dating in 2004 |
Prince Harry, the third in line for succession to the British throne, has split from his girlfriend Chelsy Davy after she decided she was "fed up of coming second" to his army career.
Friends of Chelsy have said the time the pair spent apart and Harry's lifestyle were to blame. It was Chelsy's decision to end the five-year relationship, they claimed.
A royal source confirmed that the pair had split-up, adding that the separation was amicable and they remained friends. The source said the couple had reached the stage in their careers where they could find themselves spending less time together. Harry is training to become an Army Air Corps helicopter pilot, while Chelsy is studying a postgraduate law course at Leeds University.
The break-up occurred after they spent part of the Christmas holidays in Mauritius.
Earlier break upThe couple had broken up for a short period in 2007. Though they were soon back together then, it now appears the relationship is finally over.
