Music, the best medicine: Christiaan Van Vuuren is popular on YouTube as Fully Sick Rapper

Killing time

Bored and trying to "kill time" Van Vuuren made some tongue-in-cheek videos in hospital, as Fully Sick Rapper, and released them on YouTube.

Using standard software on his Apple MacBook Pro, his videos are generating huge buzz and fans from around the world.

"I'm not an Internet guy and when I came in here I didn't even have a Facebook or Twitter account," he said.
Needless, to say he's fully connected online now.

"I was getting bored of DVDs ufffd everything became bland and boring."

That's when he discovered his MacBook had some simple music programmes. Using the microphone on the laptop, he created a song and lyrics and sent it to friends.

He uploaded his first video and before he knew it, 1,000 people viewed it.

The 27-year-old says the videos were the best medicine he could have received.

His most popular video, Life in Quarantine, has soared to more than 4,00,000 hits. He also started a Twitter account and has more than 2,000 followers.

Van Vuuren said, "All the online action I'm getting has helped me to stay positive."
