Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has begun his three-day official visit to India today on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi
Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has begun his three-day official visit to India today on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
According to Lanka Page, the three day visit, from September 14 to 16, is Wickremesinghe's first official international visit after assuming office last month.
Wickremesinghe is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Modi and call on President Pranab Mukherjee.
Indian Cabinet Ministers and political leaders are among those who are expected to call on Wickremesinghe.
Wickremesinghe is expected to formally request for India's support in Geneva during his visit that coincides with the commencement of the United Nations Human Rights Council's 30th session.
Prime Minister Modi and his Lankan counterpart are expected to discuss the devolution of power under the 13 Amendment, aspects of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the unresolved fishermen's issue and Indian Ocean security among other issues.
