A Pakistani teenaged girl was gangraped and then paraded naked through the streets of her village for turning down the advances of the local landlord, a media report said.
The shocking incident took place in a village in Vehari district of Punjab province when the girl was alone in her home.
The Express Tribune daily reported on Tuesday that Ijaz Ahmed and his friends Bilal, Shehbaz, Muazzam and Tahir broke into the girl's house Saturday and raped her.
The victim's brother Rasheed told the police that Ijaz had been stalking his sister for several months and she had shunned him.
"He (the landlord) began to threaten her and me," he was quoted as saying.
Their parents died a few years ago and they were living with their grandfather and an aged uncle.
"I had refused him several times. He threatened to kill my brother and me," the teenager still in a state of shock told the police.
"They beat up my grandfather and uncle and they could barely walk," she said.
Villagers said that the men dragged the girl outside and paraded her in the streets of the village, the media report said.
"The men kept making loud claims about her being their 'property' and no one said a word because they were armed," said a villager.
Ghazala, a doctor at the Vehari district hospital, said: "I have issued a medical certificate testifying that she was gangraped. The girl was also dragged through the village."
"The hospital has already treated three members of the family as the girl's grandfather and uncle were brought in with severe injuries after they tried to rescue her," she said.
