Islamabad: At least 13 members, including seven children, of a family were killed early Tuesday in a landslide in Pakistan's Karachi city, media reported.
The tragic accident took place around 2 a.m. when rocks and soil fell on a slum, burying three camps of a labourers' family in Gulstan-e-Jauhar area of the city, Xinhua quoted from local media reports.
Rescuers and local residents rushed to the site and dug out 13 bodies, including seven children and three women from the rubble.
Rescue efforts are under way as it is feared that at least three more people are still trapped under the rubble.
Commissioner of Karachi city, Shoaib Siddiqui, said that all the dead belonged to the same family. The family had established their camps at the site three days ago.
All the bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital from where they will be sent to their home town - the eastern province of Punjab.
