The fire reportedly started near the top of the 58-storey tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan at about 7 a.m. Pictures and video from the scene showed smoke billowing from the building. The injuries were non-life-threatening and the blaze was declared under control by 8.15 a.m., said FDNY spokesperson Frank Dwyer. More than 70 firefighters responded to the fire, the local media reported.
President Donald Trump was in Washington at the time of the fire. His son, Eric, called the blaze "small" and said it started in a cooling tower.
