Alphajet aircrafts from the French elite acrobatic flying team Patrouille de France (PAF) released smoke in the colours of the French national flag above the La Defense business district during the annual Bastille Day military parade on the Champs-Elysees avenue in Paris.

Bastille Day is the French National Day commemorating the Storming of the Bastille. The medieval fortress and prison in Paris known as the Bastille represented royal authority in the centre of Paris. The storming but was a symbol of the abuse of the monarchy: its fall was the flash point of the French Revolution.
