Taliban announce interim govt, to be led by Mullah Hasan Akhund

Earlier, protesters gathered at the gate of the Pakistani embassy in Kabul and said that they do not support a puppet government in Afghanistan and asked for an inclusive government

Taliban, on Tuesday announced an ‘acting' government after taking over Kabul from the US-backed government of Afghanistan.

Taliban leader Mullah Hasan Akhund will head the new ‘acting' government of Afghanistan with Mullah Baradar as his deputy.

In doing so, the Taliban paid homage to the old guard of the group, giving top posts to Taliban personalities who dominated the 20-year battle against the US-led coalition and its Afghan government allies.

Interim Prime Minister Mullah Hasan Akhund headed the Taliban government in Kabul during the last years of its rule.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, had led talks with the United States and signed the deal that led to America's final withdrawal from Afghanistan.

As per TOLOnews, Abdul Ghani Baradar to be first deputy leader, Mawlavi Hannafi to be second deputy leader, Mullah Yaquoub to be acting minister of defence, & Serajuddin Haqqani to be acting minister of interior in the new Taliban Govt in Afghanistan.
