What authorities described as a workplace shooting in Chester, Pennsylvania on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of two persons and the injuries of three more, who were taken to a hospital immediately after the incident, CNN said.
Commissioner Steven Gretsky of Chester Police stated that a suspect was taken into custody in Trainer, as per an ANI report. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteime stated that the shooting incident happened at Delaware County Linen on Wednesday morning.
During a press conference, Stollsteimer stated that the suspect "took out his anger" on coworkers by bringing a gun to work.
The suspect is a "disgruntled employee, a current employee," of the company, according to Chester Mayor Stefan Roots.

"It speaks to guns in America...It's heartbreaking, it's tragic, it has to stop," he said, according to a CNN report.
CNN reported, using the Gun Violence Archive, that there had been at least 168 mass shooting incidents in the US in the first five months of 2024. According to the report, mass shootings are defined by CNN and the organisation as incidents in which four or more people are shot.
In Memphis, Tennessee, a block party turned deadly in a park earlier in April, leaving two people dead and fourteen hospitalised, according to authorities, as reported by CNN.
Eleven more people arrived at hospitals in private automobiles, while three of the incident's victims were brought straight to hospitals in critical condition, according to the Memphis Police Department.
According to CNN, police said the shooting went down at a party where up to 300 people had gathered. Addressing the press, police disclosed that "a total of 16 victims were shot at the event.
"Officers responded at 7:19 pm (local time) to the scene, where they found five victims with gunshot wounds. Three of them were taken to local hospitals and two men were pronounced dead at the scene, according to CNN.
As of Saturday night, no suspects were in custody, according to the police. According to Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis, at least two people are thought to have opened fire at the event.
However, it's unclear what led to the violence.
"We are working tirelessly tonight to identify the individuals who were involved in this shooting," Davis said.
