Car freaks need to stay in Mumbai this Sunday.
The city's roads might be clogged with classic cars. In a clash of the old and beautiful, the Vintage and Classic Car Club of India (VCCCI) will hold its vintage car rally in Mumbai from Nariman Point to Dadar and back.
The rally is to start at 9 am and over 100 cars are expected to be on the roads including classic bikes. A 1911 Triumph bike is the oldest in the category.
The car rally usually runs till Bandra, but, "this year it is extraordinarily hot, so we have cut short the route. We were also not getting permission to run this rally earlier after the 26/11 attacks. We have permission now," says Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) chairman, Nitin Dossa.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
On the same day, car enthusiast Gautam Singhania is to hold a Super Car Rally. The industrialist's initiative has approximately 25 cars Bentley, Porsche and Ferraris and is set to begin at 10 am. This rally will begin from Flora Fountain and go on to Prabhadevi (Siddhivinayak) and then turn back to the starting point.
Dossa says, "The vintage car and classic car rally should be over in two hours."
Singhania's spokesperson says, "Our rally will not clash with the VCCCI one as it is scheduled to begin later."
Race ace N Karthikeyan is expected to be present.
