Yashpal Sharma, former India cricketer and member of the 1983 World Cup-winning India team passed away today due to cardiac arrest.
ANI broke the news on the social media site Twitter. Their post read, "Yashpal Sharma, a member of the 1983 Cricket World Cup-winning team, died of cardiac arrest this morning."

Sharma, 66, made his cricket debut for India against Pakistan in 1978 and went on to score 11 runs in a match that India lost by 8 wickets. The following year, Sharma made his Test debut against England.
Yashpal Sharma played 37 Test matches scoring 1,606 runs at an average of 33.45. He scored 2 centuries and 9 fifties and also had a wicket to his name.
Sharma played 42 ODIs and scored 883 runs averaging with the bat at 28.48 with 4 fifties and a wicket under his name.
