Former Wankhede curator Nadim Memon, a member of Dilip Vengsarkar group, yesterday withdrew his protest against Vilasrao Deshmukh. Memon had opposed Deshmukh's nomination for the presidentship of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on the address issue on Saturday. Deshmukh has disclosed Latur as his permanent address in the Rajya Sabha. According to Section 17 of the MCA constitution, one has to be a permanent resident of Greater Mumbai or Thane district to contest elections.u00a0

"Sharad Pawar requested me to withdraw the objection because he was satisfied with Deshmukh's documents (passport with Mumbai address and electricity bills). I have decided to withdraw my appeal against Mr Deshmukh," Memon said.
