The Committee of Administrators (CoA), appointed by the Supreme Court, was not aware of the Indian cricket board's plan to invite applications for the post of head coach, it is learnt. A panel member told mid-day that the timing of this invitation was completely wrong and there was no need to take such a step.

Another committee member, while echoing similar sentiments, felt that the Board could have called for applications immediately after the Champions Trophy. "Even one day after the tournament wouldn't have looked as bad as it appears now. This has been handled very poorly," the member said.
