Team India have their Playing XI ready to combat the Aussie challenge in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground tomorrow.
The team think-tank has decided to pick R Ashwin ahead of Pragyan Ojha as the lone spinner for the first Test, it is learnt.
As far as the selection of the third seamer is concerned, Umesh Yadav is certain to accompany Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma.
The pace duo also put to rest all doubts lingering over their fitness. Zaheer and Ishant bowled their heart out for more than an hour in the nets on Saturday.
Amongst the batters, Virat Kohli has clinched the widely speculated No 6 spot.
India's Playing XI: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.
