Australian captain Cameron White won the toss and elected to bat against England in the Twenty20 international at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.
It is the first time the sides have met since England completed its historic 3-1 Ashes series win over Australia.
White has taken over the captaincy of the Australian Twenty20 team from Michael Clarke, who stood down to concentrate on Test cricket after a dismal Ashes series with the bat.
England are aiming for a record eighth straight T20 international win in the match.
