BCCI chief's son arrested for allegedly punching cop

A bar ruckus escalated and led to Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) president N Srinivasan's son getting arrested for allegedly punching a cop in Mumbai on Monday.

The incident occurred on Monday night at a suburban restaurant-pub, Escobar, in suburban Bandra. 40-year-old Ashwin and his friend Avi got into a brawl with the staff of the pub.

The duo demanded drinks be served to them despite it being past the 1.30 AM deadline. When the waiters refused to serve them, the duo allegedly picked a fight with them and even refused to pay off their Rs 30,000 bill.

The staff then called in the cops, but even the arrival of law enforcement authorities didn't deter Avinash and his friend who continued threatening everyone and even dropping names.

When the name-dropping failed to impress the cops, an inebriated and enraged Avinash allegedly punched a constable.

The two had to spend the night in Bandra police station and were released on bail on Tuesday. Avinash has been charged with assaulting a govt officer, criminal intimidation and abuse.

As per the bail conditions, the two will have to report at the Bandra police station every Monday till the matter is resolved.u00a0
