South Africa has a special place in Rohit Sharma's heart. It's here where his international career took off during the 2007 World Twenty20. "It's a nice feeling to be back here. I like this country very much. We won the World Cup here. I had done well in South Africa and when I came to know that IPL is being played here, I felt happy. Obviously, cricketing-wise it suits my style of batting."
Sharma surely enjoyed the conditions against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. "I had a positive feeling when I went out to bat in the first game. The main thing is to go out and enjoy and we did the same thing.
"We played three practice matches here. After coming back from New Zealand I had not played a match, so it was very important to play those matches to find my touch. In one match I got 40 in 20 balls, in the second 15, in the third 85 off 40 balls. I took the same confidence in the first game. I feel I will enjoy playing in the IPL."
With this beautiful country providing a perfect setting, the stage is set for Sharma to provide the entertainment with his bat.
