It was painful to read about the controversy over Ajit Agarkar not being picked in the Mumbai XI for the Ranji Trophy game against Orissa at Cuttack. To me, it looks like a case of poor handling. Agarkar is a very senior player and there were other ways of telling him that he wouldn't be part of the XI.

The matter should have been sorted out prior to the team's departure. No exclusion can be smooth, but at least the player knows where he stands while the selectors/team management do what is best for the team.

Critical
This matter is too critical not to be handled by the Mumbai Cricket Association's highest authority. MCA President Vilasrao Deshmukh must make the time to sort this out.

Administration
It is a time to be seen and heard and a good contribution from him will go a long way in showing that winning elections is not the be-all and end-all in cricket administration.
