Dhaka: Bangladesh One-Day International (ODI) skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza was on Friday hospitalised after being diagnosed with dengue fever.

"He still has high fever," a friend of Mortaza told bdnews24.com.

He will not be able to play matches in the national league's third round because of the illness.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Debashish Chowdhury said they were yet to get details of his condition.

"It's been confirmed that he has been diagnosed with dengue," he said.

"I've spoken with the doctor at the hospital."

Mashrafe's one-year-old son Sohel, too, has been suffering from high fever for the past several days.
