Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir has endured a nightmarish start to IPL-7, recording three straight ducks, the latest of which came against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday.

They are up against a rampaging Kings XI Punjab today and this would only complicate things for Gambhir. But one man who is backing the former India opener to come good, sooner than later, is his childhood coach Sanjay Bhardwaj.

"One cannot question Gambhir's ability, but right now he has an issue with starts. He is not getting the time to find his groove," said Bhardwaj, on the sidelines of the Coca-Cola U-16 India team selection match played at New Hind Gymkhana, Dadar yesterday.

"Also, a cricketer is like a labourer. They cannot sit on past performances and think about a great future. They need to start from scratch each day. It doesn't matter if you have scored a 100, 200 or got out for 0 in the past. I feel we should give him the needed space," he added.
