If players like Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja end up suffering humiliation today, then they had it coming.

The quartet could be issued show-cause notices for disobeying curfew orders during the ICC World T20 in the West Indies.

As reported in MiD DAY on May 7, the Board instructed players not to step out of their hotel rooms after 9.30 pm. If they needed to go out for a meal, special permission from manager Ranjib Biswal had to be sought. The manager was given a free hand to send players home if they were guilty of any kind of indiscipline.

It is learnt that some players defied orders and visited a pub in St Lucia after their loss to Sri Lanka on May 11.
The fact that they did so after a defeat has not gone down well with the bosses. The Board biggies are keen to know why a bouncer was called to intervene in the argument with fans at the pub and why players reacted to their abuse.

It can be recalled that Board officials briefed players prior to their departure to the West Indies about the need to be controversy-free. Members were keen that the Board's image should not be sullied further after their credibility took a beating due to the Lalit Modi fracas. The Board's quick action on the players could be surprising to some, but they want to convey an important message: "Be it an administrator (read Modi) or player, everyone should toe the line." The Indian Premier League chief was suspended by the BCCI immediately after the IPL final.
