Chakvetadze ousted in Hobart tourney

Anna Chakvetadze saw her preparations for the Australian Open disrupted yesterday when she was beaten in the first round of the Hobart International by Carla Suarez Navarro.

The third seed dropped the first set but roared back to win the second, only for the Spaniard to dig deep to secure an impressive 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 7-5 triumph.

"I played a very good first set, the second was not so good, but I played very well in the third," Suarez Navarro said. "She's a very good player," said the Russian.
