In his first Test in the western region, Cheteshwar Pujara (nicknamed Chintu) gave his supporters much reason to smile as he ended Day One of the first Test against England with an impressive 98.
He also delighted his fiancee Pooja, who he got engaged to only recently. Pooja was not coy to cheer for her man as he defied the English attack for almost four hours. He faced 181 balls and hit the ropes 13 times. The Saurashtra lad, who is playing in his sixth Test, is on the cusp of his second Test century. His first came in August during the Test against New Zealand at Hyderabad.
Yuvi for company
Yuvraj Singh's return to the Test scene is not likely to be marked by defensive play so it will be good to have a steady batter like Pujara at the other end. Pujara, like Yuvraj has faced up to the English attack during the pre-Test warm-up games. The duo did well to see off the new ball till close. Pujara managed to deal with Graeme Swann, England's most successful of the day, with a degree of comfort.
