Mumbai Indians star all-rounder Corey Anderson termed Cricket Australia’s decision to not release Josh Hazlewood for the Indian Premier League-8 “a shame”
Mumbai Indians star all-rounder Corey Anderson termed Cricket Australia's decision to not release Josh Hazlewood for the Indian Premier League-8 "a shame".
Cricket Australia on Thursday confirmed that the Australian pacer pulled out of the IPL so that he can stay fit and fresh for the West Indies tour and their Ashes defence.

Hazlewood, who did not get any game in the last IPL, was retained by Mumbai Indians for this season. He was one of the vital cogs in Australia's success over India in the Test series where he claimed a fifer on debut in Brisbane. He was also one of the star performers for Australia in the World Cup in which he claimed 4-35 against Pakistan in the quarter-final.

'He is a quality player'
"Although he didn't get a game last time (in the IPL) which was unfortunate, we were looking forward to have him this time. But Cricket Australia has ruled him out. It's quite a shame. He is a quality player. However, we have plenty of guys who can do the job as well," Anderson said on the eve of Sunday's match against Kings XI Punjab.
