Kochi set to get the boot Indian Premier League's (IPL) Governing Council will meet in Nagpur to decide the fate of the Kochi franchise. Sources within the BCCI told MiD DAY that the chances of the consortium surviving are very low. "They are still struggling to unite. The investors comprising of Anchor Group and Co have been communicating on a parallel level with us. Rendezvous Sports CEO Shailendra Gaikwad is also communicating side-by-side," an official said.
In fact, the BCCI are already gearing up for a fresh auction, if the need be. "It is quite an easy task to issue a fresh tender for bidding. We can do that immediately," he said.
Meanwhile, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is ready to welcome BCCI's decision. "We have not heard anything from them. I am sure they will take a judicious call. We don't want to speculate at this stage," TC Matthew, Secretary of KCA told MiD DAY.
Royals vs BCCIThe Bombay High Court will hear the plea of Rajasthan Royals today. Sources within Royals told MiD DAY that the mood is upbeat. They continue to maintain that the BCCI never gave them an opportunity to reply to the show cause notice. Royals, who won the inaugural IPL tournament, are keen on returning to the IPL fold for the sake of the fans.
"It is our duty to the fans of the IPL, our employees, our players and our partners to pursue the matter," a spokesperson of Royals said in a statement.
Modi vs BCCIIn New Delhi, the Supreme Court will hear Lalit Modi's plea to reconstitute the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) disciplinary committee that's investigating certain allegations against the former IPL czar.
Last Thursday, Supreme Court had asked Modi and BCCI to amicably resolve their dispute over a change in the composition of the committee.
If the two parties can't come to a compromise today, Supreme Court will allow the existing committee to continue with its proceedings.
The three-member committee ufffd comprising of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chirayu Amin and Arun Jaitley ufffd will meet on October 30 and 31 to resume their hearing.
