Mumbai-based former India women's cricket captain Diana Edulji is left without an explanation as to why she is not part of MCA's Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) anymore after attending two meetings when Sunil Gavaskar was chief of the panel.

"One day, I received a letter from the MCA saying my services were not required. I was taken aback," said Edulji, who was roped in to promote women's cricket.

"I had raised the issue about the Mumbai team travelling unreserved in a train to Rajkot. Only 50 per cent of the squad had reservations and I asked why was I not contacted to help with berth confirmations since I work for the Railways. Also, why should the team not travel by air like other teams? Probably, they (MCA) did not like me bringing this up," said Edulji.

"Apart from Sharad Pawar and Gavaskar, who said would look into my ouster, I wrote to the managing committee members asking what I had done wrong if at all I was wrong. I got a reply from Shripad Halbe (managing committee member), who said that we don't need to provide an explanation." Halbe repeated this viewpoint to MiD DAY yesterday.

While appointments for the women's team features in today's agenda, there is no female representative in the committee. Interesting piece of administration this.
