Disappointed at not being selected in the superior 'A' team, Henderson Dias and Romil Khutia are doing everything possible to prove they deserve to be among the cream players.
Yesterday, when Don Bosco 'B' (Matunga) took on Balmohan Vidyamandir (Dadar), the duo scored a brace each in the team's 7-1 win in the MSSA U-16 Div IV match at Azad Maidan yesterday.
Henderson plays on the right wing while Romil handles the left and tend to make every defensive wall look brittle.
Despite being in last year's title-winning Under-14 side, coach Leslie Machado did not select them for the 'A' side.
"We feel very sad for not making the 'A' team. I think we are in the 'B' side because of our physical fitness. Our school has a lot of good players so it is difficult to make the main side," Romil said.
Working hard
Romil claims to be the shortest player in his team. Both Henderson and Romil make it to the school gymnasium religiously everyday in order to work on their body structure.
"We visit the school gym regularly. We mainly do exercises that will help us grow tall," Henderson said.
Coach Machado said, "Both of them are very talented players. If I had to put them in the 'A' team, they would have to sit on the sidelines and miss out on chances of playing. So, I decided to use them in a more productive way."
