England all rounder Andrew Flintoff is in negotiations with the Queensland Bulls to play in Australia's KFC Big Bash Twenty20 tournament in January, and could also sign for New Zealand state side Northern Districts to re-launch his plan to be a cricket freelancer.

Queensland had attempted to sign Flintoff before, but the talks collapsed last year when it became clear that a long-term knee injury would not heal in time.

But with Flintoff recovering speedily Queensland has renewed their interest and wants to make him one of their two overseas players for a tournament KFC Big Bash Twenty20.

Flintoff is also renegotiating his contract with Indian Premier League franchise the Chennai Super Kings, although that depends on how many overseas cricketers each team are allowed to retain before the next auction in October, The Telegraph reports.

Flintoff also has not given up hope of playing one-day international cricket for England and if he did prove his fitness, it could pave his way to return to the national side.
