West Ham manager Avram Grant paid tribute to former Liverpool player Avi Cohen, who died yesterday.
The 54-year-old's Israeli's death was confirmed by his son Tamir, the Bolton midfielder, following a motorcycle accident last week.
Left-back Cohen played for Bob Paisley's Liverpool side between 1979 and 1981 and scored the goal that won the Reds the league title in 1980.
Grant said of his fellow countryman Cohen on Sky Sports 1: "I know him personally, he was a great man, a great player and my sympathy is with his family."
Grant, a year older than Cohen at 55, later added: "My deepest sympathy goes to Avi's wife Dorit and his son Tamir, and all his family and friends. Avi was a great player and a great man, and always had a smile on his face.
"He will be much missed by everyone in football. I played against him when we were both young."
