It seems Sania Mirza and Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki have similar tastes or they just landed up shopping at the sponsor's outlet together. Not only do their outfits match colour-to-colour but their skirts are almost identical.
Yesterday, Sania who had not played a match since March survived a late onslaught from World No 61 Marta Domachowhska in her 6-1, 6-4 win in the first round of the Australian Open.
Sania raced away with the first set in just 25 minutes. The Hyderabadi led 2-0 in the second set before Marta stepped on the gas, winning four games on the trot, breaking Sania in the third and fifth games. From a comfortable 2-0, Sania found herself trailing 2-4 in no time. Under pressure, the 22-year-old got her act together and went on to win the next four games to seal the issue.
"I've not played a match in almost six months now. I'm just happy to have come through," Sania told SkySports.
What's wrong?
"At the Olympics no-one knew what was wrong with my wrist, so we didn't even know how to fix it.
"Those few days of my life were probably the worst because I didn't know if I was ever going to hold a racquet again. I mean it was hurting to even hold a fork."
