Hussey brothers said it was good fun batting together and winning for Australia

David Hussey admitted it was "good fun" batting with brother Mike after the siblings helped Australia level the Commonwealth Bank Series with New Zealand today.

Davidu00a0scored 79 while older brother Mike made an unbeaten 75, finishing with a six over mid-on, as Australia cruised past New Zealand's 244 for eight with six wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare.

The hosts have now won the last two contests to level the series at 2-2 and set up a winner-takes-all clash in Brisbane on Friday.

On batting with his brother, David said: "He has loads of experience and he passed that on, it was great leadership. He made me feel really relaxed and just said 'watch the ball and you will get us home'. It's good fun batting with Mike. I was disappointed to get out but it was great fun, he hits the ball to all parts of the ground."

His brother preferred to direct the credit towards the bowlers for restricting New Zealand to such a low total. The Western Australian said: "I thought it was a great job by the bowlers. They got away from us a little bit at the end but it was a great batting pitch and we got a couple of guys in. It was such an important game so to be there at the end and to hit the winning runs for Australia means a lot to me. It's great to be back in the series and having a chance to win it. We are getting better as the series goes on."

Australia captain Ricky Ponting echoed that view and even claimed his side were now in pole position to win the series. "We are heading in the right direction. We are looking forward to the Gabba. It is probably the best one-day wicket in the country and will suit our game and our attack a bit better than the New Zealanders."

The Tasmanian was pleased with his side's efforts in Adelaide. "It was a good game for us in the end," he added.

"We did things really well early on with the ball, their scoring rate never got away from us. I always thought it was a gettable total for us. It was great to see Mike Hussey in the runs and I thought David Hussey played beautifully. That's a really good sign for us."

New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori felt his side's total was too small to be competitive.

"We needed to get around the 270-280 mark," he admitted.
