Brazil legend Roberto Carlos is extremely furious after suffering a racist attack during a Russian League match on Thursday.

Carlos was leading Anzhi Makhachkala to a 3-0 win over Krylya Sovetov when a racist fan hurled a banana at him from the stands. Carlos, who refused to continue playing after the incident, told The Sun: "Stop playing was what went through my mind.

You know when that sadness hits, that feeling of being powerless? I left there sad, hurt. I'm outraged by the sickening behavior of this fan, who, in fact, insulted not only me but all the players. I hope the Russian federation, UEFA and FIFA will give an adequate evaluation to this disgusting incident."

This was in fact the second time Carlos was victimised by racist fans. Zenit St Petersburg were hit with a fine in March after one of their supporters was seen offering a banana to the World Cup-winning left-back.
