Top seed Jelena Jankovic admitted she was outplayed by her lesser-ranked opponent as she crashed out of the Australian Open 1-6, 4-6 to Marion Bartoli.

After 16th seed Bartoli had closed out the first set in 31 minutes, the world number one improved in the secondu00a0holding her serve in the first game but was broken again when she doubled-faulted in the third.

"I let her play her game. I didn't do what I was supposed to. I couldn't get my rhythm out there."

She was at a loss to explain the reasons for her poor performance. "I just started slowly. I was completely not moving my feet. I was late on many shots. I was really not there, for some reason. I don't know why."
