Pacer Ashish Nehra, who retired from all forms of the game after the T20I against New Zealand in Delhi recently, has decided to swap the ball for the microphone. Nehra, 38, will be in the commentary box for the first Test between India and Sri Lanka beginning at the Eden Gardens here today. The host broadcaster is planning to create a Jodi No.1 in the Hindi commentary segment with the lanky ex-speedster and former India opener Virender Sehwag.

It may be recalled that India batting legend Sunil Gavaskar had said recently that it would be interesting to have people like Nehra or former India spinner Harbhajan Singh in the commentary box as they have been funny characters in the dressing room and are known to speak their mind. Nehra confirmed to mid-day that he will be arriving for his commentary duty in Kolkata this morning. "Ab kuch toh karna padega na [I have to do something in life] so when the offer came, I grabbed it. This will be a new innings for me and I'm not sure how long it will last. Let's see if I like it," said Nehra.
