Harbhajan Singh slaps S Sreesanth

This was the Indian Premier League's first controversy. The incident occurred when players from Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab greeted one another after the latter won a close tie.

Punjab's S Sreesanth, who took two wickets, was spotted in tears after the game. Sources close to him said that Sreesanth walked up to Harbhajan - the captain of the losing Mumbai Indians - and said "Hard luck". That was when Harbhajan lost his cool, according to reports.

Harbhajan and Sreesanth gave a watered down version. Eye-witnesses gave different versions depending on the player they supported.u00a0Some blamed Sreesanth for having taunted Harbhajan, who was said to have warned Sreesanth earlier not to sledge Mumbai's players during the match.

The aftermath: Harbhajan was banned for five ODIs, in addition to remainder of IPL-I

Shah Rukh Khan VS MCA

Bollywood star and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan allegedly misbehaved with security guards and officials at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night, according to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials. The incident took place after the match between his team and hosts Mumbai Indians.

Khan said yesterday he had not been present at the game but had gone there after it was over to pick up his children. He said he saw security guards manhandling the children and that led to the spat.

The aftermath: Shah Rukh Khan faces a lifetime ban from entering the Wankhede Stadium.

Lalit Modi show Hirwani the door
March 25, 2010 At The Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
Former India Test spinner and current national selector Narendra Hirwani was asked to leave the VIP enclosure at Brabourne Stadium by then IPL commissioner Lalit Modi.

The incident occurred on March 25, 2010, a day before the selectors were to pick the squad for the ICC World Twenty20, when the Mumbai Indians were playing their home game against Chennai Super Kings.

Insulted by the incident, Hirwani informed chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who in turn took up the issue with then BCCI secretary N Srinivasan.u00a0Modi tried to downplay the incident. "It was a misunderstanding concerning accreditation. Hirwani didn't have the ticket for the seat he was occupying," he said.

The aftermath: National selectors, barring Srikkanth, boycott rest of the IPL games.

Shane Warne VS Sanjay Dixit

Disappointed at not acknowledging his request for a favourable pitch during his last home match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne allegedly walked up to Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) secretary Sanjay Dixit after the presentation ceremony (RCB won by nine wickets) and abused him for not replying to his messages. Warne called Dixit a liar, egoistic and asked him to go away, forcing Royals owner Shilpa Shetty to intervene and apologise for the incident. The pitch used for that game against Bangalore, and the previous one against Chennai, was different from the one Warne's team had enjoyed home advantage on.

Warne was quick to apologise to Dixit, but RCA decided to lodge a criminal complaint against him at a local court. Dixit then wrote in a column: "Warne cannot be called a good sportsman because he hates losing and just could not take defeat well."u00a0Since the pitch was changed on May 9, Warne and Dixit engaged in a war of words fought on Twitter.

The aftemath: Warne was fined USD 50,000 by the BCCI but was spared a ban
