England cricket captain-turned commentator Geoff Boycott has been forced to return to Old Blighty because of a back problem.

Boycott (76) did commentary for the BBC in the first two India vs England Tests in Rajkot and Visakhapatman respectively. Though he will miss Saturday's Mohali Test, the Yorkshireman hopes to be back next month for the fourth Test at Mumbai.

It can be recalled that Boycott went home from his 1981-82 tour of India during the Kolkata Test since he did not get along with captain Keith Fletcher. Boycott did not play for England after that and went to South Africa on a rebel tour.

When reminded of that exit by this correspondent, Boycott laughed and stressed that the circumstances were different.
