London: England captain Alastair Cook may not have taken kindly to the fact that India have accused pace bowler James Anderson of physical altercation with Ravindra Jadeja, but his counterpart MS Dhoni is determined to get to the root of the controversy.

"This time I want the truth to come out. So far people have been instigated. We have been punished and they got away with it. But, this time we will go to the end. I will speak once the issue is resolved," Dhoni told mid-day while walking to the ground to join his teammates at the nets, ahead of the second Test beginning at Lord's today.

Cannot get physical
England seamer Anderson was charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday for "abusing and pushing" Jadeja during last week's drawn first Test at Trent Bridge.

During the press conference, Dhoni said: "We felt what happened was wrong so we went ahead with the charges. It's not something that we have done. Let's realise the fact. In a press conference you can ask me tough questions.

I have the right to answer them or not to answer them, but in no way can I go and touch you or you can come and touch me," the wicketkeeper-batsman added.

"You can put it in whatever way you want to but there are certain things that need to be followed, and it should be followed. Frankly, usually we have been on the receiving end a lot of times where somebody starts something and we retaliate and we get fined or different kinds of offences are levelled against us," added Dhoni.

"It was good on Jadeja's part to not really do something. It could have gone a bit far, but I felt he addressed this in the most appropriate manner.

Need to follow guidelines
"Someone has to back off at the right time. At the end of the day we play sport and a lot of people look up to us, and there is a lot of responsibility on us.

"There have been a few individuals from our side in the past that have crossed that line. It's a difficult one. You can be aggressive, you can be vocal and that's fine but there are certain guidelines and we should be following all of them."
