Hosts succumb to defeat after DYSPA’s splendid all-round show
DY Patil Sports Academy (DYPSA) bowled out hosts Parsee Gymkhana for a mere 82 to eke out a first innings victory that took them to the top of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League âA' division points table at the end of the fifth round yesterday.

DYPSA lead with 12 points followed by National CC (nine points). DY Patil scored 251 for five declared before the spin duo of Iqbal Abdullah (4 for 14) and Pravin Tambe (4 for 14) did the damage for the visitors. Parsee Gym lost opener Akarshit Gomel off the very first ball of the innings from Kshemal Waingankar. His flick went straight into the hands Vinit Indulkar at short square leg.

Mumbai left-arm spinner Abdullah and leg-spinner Tambe, who was unable to find a place in Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad, bowled 13.1 and seven overs respectively.
Subramanian Doraiswamy laid the foundation for DYPSA's victory with a brilliant 107 while Shashank Singh followed up his 118 against Apollo CC in the last round with an unbeaten 45. In an âA' division match between Payyade SC and New Hind SC at New Hind SC, Bravish Shetty (144) and Praful Waghela (100) scored centuries for Payyade, who piled up 335 for four. New Hind ended the drawn match with 43 for two.

In the âA' division drawn match between Parkophene Cricketers and National CC at Cross Maidan, Parkophene's Atif Attarwala (101) and Parag Khanapurkar (75) put on 155 runs to break a 47-year-old record which stood in the name of Subhash Surve and Balu Hindlekar (son of former Test 'keeper DD Hindlekar). The 1968 pair put on 154 runs for United Cricketers vs New Hind SC.

Parkophene declared their first innings at 244 for seven to which National CC responded by scoring 74 for six.
In the âB' division, Shivaji Park Youngsters (SPY) claimed first innings points against John Bright CC at Azad Maidan.
For SPY, medium pacer Meghan Pednekar claimed six wickets for 29 - his fourth, fifer in five matches. His Kanga League 2015 wicket tally is an impressive 24. John Bright were bowled out for 112.
