Hordes of anxious people surrounded the Chinnaswamy Stadium yesterday to get a glimpse of the man of the hour - VVS Laxman - as the Indians underwent a strenuous workout session ahead of Saturday's second Test against Australia.
Having arrived at the ground in the afternoon, Laxman did not come out of the dressing room, and the media could not trace him. MiD DAY caught up with him later before boarding the bus with his teammates. "The back spasm is still there - and so is the pain, but I am confident of playing the next Test. I took some treatment in the dressing room and I'd like to bat for some time tomorrow. Most likely, I will play," he said. Before arriving here, Laxman went to Hyderabad to consult a doctor friend - who had fortunately just returned from the UK.
The doctor's opinion gave Laxman even more confidence.
