"We have decided not to conduct the U-19 match as we have not been handed over the ground by the firm which is in charge of revamping the stadium. We will conduct matches as soon as we are handed over the ground," Rajput was quoted as saying. The scheduled match would be now played at the Bandra Kurla Complex ground. Though the Wankhede will only host their first World Cup game on March 13 (NZ vs Canada) the stadium that will host the mega final on April 2 doesn't appear to be fully completed.
Apart from the above two games, the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka tie will also be held here on March 18.
Wankhede has so far played host to three World Cup games ufffd India vs Zimbabwe & India vs England in 1987 and India vs Australia in 1996. The Indians lost the last two mentioned games.
The Mumbai Cricket Association is headed by International Cricket Council chief Sharad Pawar.
