Pakistan's former controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said losing to India in the World Cup semi-finals was the 'greatest regret of his life'.

Although he was not a part of the Pakistan team during the match against India, Shoaib insisted that the opposition's victory would keep hurting him more than anything else in his cricketing career, the Daily Times reports.

The controversial bowler had announced his retirement from international cricket, and was not allowed to take part in the last four matches after he had a fight with teammate Kamran Akmal during the match against New Zealand.

The Rawalpindi Express, as he is known in the cricketing arena, had admitted that he himself did not like his mood swings that had got him into trouble numerous times in his career.

u00a0Shoaib, who has been keeping a low profile since returning from the World Cup, was supposed to receive a shield of honour from the organisers of a T20 tournament in Karachi on Saturday, but he pulled out at the last moment citing the death of a relative.
