Liquor baron Vijay Mallya finally had something to cheer about in the Indian Premier League after the disastrous show of his team Bangalore Royal Challengers in the inaugural championship. Yesterday, he was beaming after securing his main target Kevin Pietersen.
Mallya, who said he had already made a deal with the player before the auction, got his wish for an astronomical $1.55 million.
"KP was obviously on top of the list of our targets. I am happy to get him at this price but I was prepared to pay more for KP," said Mallya.
"I did not bid for the first few players including Flintoff which allowed me to go all out for KP.u00a0
"A lot more may change during the course of the season," Mallya, whose team was dubbed as a Test XI in the inaugural edition, added.
