With the Decision Review System (DRS) issue during the second India-Australia Test in Bangalore threatening to derail the series, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and both cricket boards are making big efforts to put the focus back on the game.

Both the CA and BCCI also decided that the two captains would meet in Ranchi before the Test starts to resolve the crisis. Former West Indies skipper Richie Richardson, who replaces Chris Broad as match referee for the remaining two Tests, will brief Steven Smith and Virat Kohli about their responsibilities and urge them to play the game in the right spirit. Richardson, it is learnt will further educate the two captains on how to use the DRS in a fair way.

Cricket Australia (CA) chief executive James Sutherland met his opposite number Rahul Johri at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday to resolve the issue. The BCCI immediately withdrew the complaint against Smith and Peter Handscomb. It is learnt that the CA had to soften its stance after the Indian cricket board lodged an official complaint with the ICC against Smith and Handscomb with video footage of the incident to substantiate the charges.
