If Otago Volts triumph in New Zealand Cricket's domestic T20 competition and qualify for the Champions Trophy, Brendon McCullum could virtually be living in India post-April. "If Otago Volts qualify, we'll be in India in September for the Champions Trophy. So, after the IPL in April, it will be like moving home to India," said McCullum, en route to the team hotel (Shoreline Motel) aboard an airport shuttle.

He was excited at the prospect of playing in front of packed stands. "You reckon it would be a crowd of about 35,000 for the Champions Trophy?" enquired McCullum, who had set the M Chinnaswamy Stadium alight during the inaugural IPL with a blistering 73u2013ball 158 for Kolkata Knight Riders. Talking about that memorable innings, the stumper said: "I was lucky, mate. But I cherish that knock." McCullum has high regard for team owner Shah Rukh Khan. "He's very modest. We got along pretty well. I'm looking forward to meeting him soon." The 28-year-old, who batted the Blackcaps to a 2-0 win over India in the T20s, enquired when Preity Zinta would be arriving in NZ. "I'm told she's going to be here for a week, but I'm not sure when she's coming," he said. When his teammates asked who Zinta was, he said: "She's a franchisee of an IPL team. She's an actress as well."
