Indian model Poonam Pandey, who didn't fulfil her promise to strip after India won the 2011 World Cup, says she was excited by controversy the events caused at the time Model Poonam Pandey has always courted controversies, if not for her obscene dressing then for her brazen statements. But by her own admission, she has "enjoyed them all", and even has a favourite controversy.
"The World Cup controversy has to be my favourite one," Pandey, who turned 26 yesterday, said during an interview with Jagran Online at their Bandra office.
It can be recalled that Pandey, a former Kingfisher Calendar girl known for her semi-nude pictures and bold statements, shot into the limelight in 2011 after she promised to strip if Team India won the ICC World Cup. Despite India's historic victory, however, Pandey did not fulfil her promise, claiming she did not get permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to perform her act.
Recalling how she got the idea, Pandey said: "I was just sitting with a few friends and this thought came to me, so I put out the message on social media. I still think it's the best thing to have happened to me because I got instant fame. People say you need a godfather to succeed in the glamour industry, but I don't have one and at 26, I think I've done pretty well. Media is my godfather," she added.
