Monty Panesar's mother has come out in support of her son after it emerged that the England spinner had urinated in public after being asked to leave a nightclub. She claimed that it was not a 'big issue'.

Speaking from Lutron, Gursharan Kaur said, "It was not a big issue. Only the media has created the hype." u00a0

Initially she refused to accept that Panesar had indeed caused people a lot of inconvenience by his antics, but when pressed further, she admitted: "Obviously, being his parents, we are concerned about the incident. The matter is finished now and I don't want to offer any more excuses."

She refused to say whether this incident would jeopardise Monty's career. "I don't want to say anything more," she said before disconnecting.u00a0Panesar has many supporters in England and Punjab. His parents (Paramjit Singh and Gursharan Kaur) migrated to England in the late 1970s.

It is not the first time that the spinner is in the news for wrong reasons. He was arrested and interviewed by the police in 2011 after a heated argument with his wife in a pub car park. However, Panesar was released without charge owing to the lack of evidence.u00a0
